The Official Master’s in Contemporary Spanish Language and Literature introduces the study and analysis of the most important linguistic and literary phenomena in the Spanish-speaking world over the last 20 years. Its goal is to delve into the knowledge of literature written in Spanish—in Spain and the Americas—from 1996 to the present and reflect upon the rules and usage of Spanish in current times.

The Master’s seeks to educate individuals interested in contemporary Spanish language, literature and culture and who intend to engage in teaching and other professional activities related to this area.

The courses are designed according to thematic criteria, so topics related to contemporary Spanish culture are approached from an interdisciplinary perspective. They are addressed with a transversal focus so that the study of the different areas is carried out from distinct outlooks and views.

Course classroom sessions will be complemented with a practical activity undertaken by the students, based on the reading of a large corpus of contemporary literary and linguistic texts written in Spanish, study of a support and reference bibliography, writing exercises and essays, and preparation of oral presentations given to fellow students and professors.
